At Level EX I developed and art directed over 50 products and video game experiences ranging from Mobile, AR, and VR titles. Starting from a company of three people, I assisted in growing the studio to over 150 employees over 7 years. I worked with various clients and partners such as Brainlab, Medtronic, Phizer, Philips, Space X, and NASA.

ART DIRECTION Virtual Technique Guides
Description
Virtual Technique Guides allow for surgeons to train anywhere in the world vs going to a sim lab or a flagship hospital. Surgeons can practice on virutal anatomy, make mistakes, and learn about new devices and techniques. VTGs run on mobile devices, remote play (proprietary cloud gaming solution), or desktop machines.
Art Direction
I was responsible for working with our Technical Director and Creative Director to establish a look and feel that resonated with medical professionals. I collaborated heavily with engineers and designers to establish a workflow that allowed us to build a variety of VTGs quickly. Secondly, I Art Directed and lead a team of 3D artists, technical artists, and animators, empowering them to make smart decisions as we navigate building a new surgical platform in Unity.
Look Development
We made many VTGs at Level EX, these are some of the highlights i have selected regarding Look Development.
Look Development was done in Realtime to test a variety of shaders, lighting, etc.
3D models were created by our internal team and outsourcers. I was responsible for the general direction, lighting, camera placement.

For Top Derm , I art directed the lighting/presentation of these images. These skin conditions were all presented in real-time software.
Colin Joyce was the artist I directed to sculpt these images. Medical verification was done both externally and internally by a team of Doctors.






ART DIRECTION Pulm EX (2018)
Game
Pulm EX is a mobile surgical video game that takes place in the lungs. The player takes control of an endoscope and navigates various lungs/levels to solve problems. This allows the doctors to try various techniques on the virtual patients vs using them for the first time on a human.

I did some quick look development for PUlm EX to set an early direction on what the lung internals could look like. It gave us an early visual quality bar to hit.
